Mt. Jackson, VA – February 11, 2025: Senior Pathologist Tracey L. Papenfuss, DVM, PhD, MS, DAVCP, will participate in a symposium during the Society of Toxicology 64th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. The StageBio team will also be attending and hosting booth #1229.

The symposium, titled “Translational Toxicology: Comparative In Vivo Models: Charting Efficacy and Safety in Cell and Gene Therapy Development,” will focus on recent advances in the development, application, evaluation, regulatory considerations, and emerging trends of cell and gene therapies.

Dr. Papenfuss will introduce the symposium and present a session on the considerations for study design of cell and gene therapies and the evaluation of the immune system responses, “Payload and platform-related immune effects: Study design and evaluation considerations for evaluating immune system responses to cell and gene therapies”. At the closing of the symposium, Dr. Papenfuss will also lead a panel discussion and Q&A session for attendees.

“Cell and gene therapies hold the promise to treat several diverse diseases with unprecedented precision,” said Dr. Papenfuss. “We have an opportunity to consider how these therapies should be evaluated in terms of safety and efficacy before they become more commonplace, so that we can realize the full potential of cell and gene therapies and maximize patient outcomes.”

The symposium will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 8:30 AM to 11:15 AM in Room W204A.
