Meet StageBio’s August team spotlight, Senior Business Development Executive, Ailsa Delgado!

Hi Ailsa! Can you introduce yourself and share your role at StageBio?
Hello! I’m Ailsa Delgado, and I joined StageBio a little over four years ago as a Senior Business Development Executive.

What initially sparked your interest in your field, and how did you choose your specific field of study?
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and from a young age, I was fascinated by the drug development process. After earning my bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, I pursued a career in pharmaceutical and biotech sales—starting at 3M, then moving to MilliporeSigma, and now proudly representing StageBio.

What do you enjoy most about working at StageBio?
Throughout my career, I’ve developed a deep passion for being a client advocate. I truly enjoy building meaningful business relationships and watching how those partnerships evolve over time to help our clients succeed.

What does a typical day look like for you?
In my current role, I manage a global portfolio of Contract Research Organizations and Key Accounts. No two days are the same, but every task I take on is driven by three goals: to position StageBio as the best-in-class provider in the pathology space, ensure client satisfaction, and close the deal!

Can you share a breakthrough or discovery in your research/work that you found particularly exciting?
One of the most impactful moments in my career was witnessing the development of the COVID-19 vaccine. For the first time, the general public became deeply engaged in the drug development process. It was inspiring to see that level of interest, and I believe it sparked curiosity in many young people to explore careers in this field.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to work in your field?
For anyone considering a career in sales, my biggest piece of advice is: go for it—and get comfortable with change. In sales, change is the only constant!

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
When I’m not working or traveling to conferences, I love spending time with my husband and our four-legged daughter, Ella. We all enjoy beach days and boating adventures together.
