Meet Ayse Müller, Managing Director of StageBio GmbH in Freiburg, Germany.

In this Employee Spotlight, Ayse shares her personal journey into the life sciences, what drives her in her leadership role, and why people, trust, and scientific quality are at the heart of her work every day.

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your role at StageBio?

My name is Ayse and my professional background is in pharmacy and clinical research, which has given me a strong scientific foundation and shaped my passion for supporting the development of innovative therapies.

Joining StageBio gave me the opportunity to combine my scientific expertise with my passion for leadership and business development. As Managing Director, I focus on driving strategic growth, strengthening our operational capabilities, and ensuring we continue to deliver quality, science-driven solutions for our clients.

One of the aspects I enjoy most is working with a highly dedicated team. Together, we have expanded our Freiburg site into a trusted European center of excellence, and I look forward to continuing to grow our capabilities while supporting the success of our clients and partners

2. What inspired you to pursue a career in the life sciences?

I have always been curious about science and fascinated by how research can change the way we understand disease and treatment.

What inspires me most is that every detail matters. Every tissue sample, every analysis, every discussion, and every decision can contribute to the bigger picture. Even when our role is behind the scenes, the quality and care we put into our work can make a real difference for research programs and, ultimately, for patients.

That sense of purpose is something that continues to motivate me every day.

3. What does a typical day look like for you at StageBio?

One of the things I enjoy most about my role is that no two days are the same. My work involves many different aspects: speaking with our scientific and operational teams, supporting client discussions, reviewing business opportunities, and planning the future development of StageBio. I really like how much variety there is in my work. 

4. What has been the most rewarding part of your journey with StageBio so far?

Looking back, one of the most fulfilling aspects of my journey has been witnessing the continuous growth of our Freiburg site. And not only in terms of facilities, capabilities, and technologies, but as a team as well.

Building our new facility, expanding our laboratory capabilities, and introducing technologies such as digital pathology and advanced scanning solutions have been important milestones. But what touches me most is seeing the dedication behind these achievements. Growth requires flexibility, patience, courage, and teamwork, and our team has shown all of that.

I feel grateful to work with a team of talented and dedicated people who support each other and share the same commitment to our work. 

5. What do you enjoy most about working in histopathology?

Histopathology is a field where science, technology, and deep expertise come together in a very meaningful way. What fascinates me is that tissue can tell a story. With the right knowledge and careful analysis, it can provide important insights into disease mechanisms, treatment effects, and the safety of new therapeutic approaches.

6. What makes the StageBio team special?

For me, the people are the heart of StageBio. We have colleagues with very different backgrounds, strengths, and areas of expertise, and each person contributes something valuable.

What I appreciate most is the willingness to support one another, to solve problems together, and to keep going even when things are challenging. In a growing company, things are not always predictable, but a strong team culture makes a real difference.

7. What are you most excited about for the future of StageBio?

I am excited about the opportunity to continue growing StageBio and strengthen our role as a trusted partner for our clients. The life sciences industry is evolving quickly, and it is important that we continue to invest in new technologies, expand our capabilities, and develop solutions that meet the changing needs of our partners.

8. What is something people might not know about you?

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places. It's a great way for me to recharge, gain new perspectives, and appreciate different cultures. 

9. What advice would you give to someone starting a career in life sciences?

Stay curious, stay open-minded, and never stop learning. Most importantly, remember that every contribution matters. Whether you are at the beginning of your career or already leading a team, the care and responsibility you bring to your work can make a difference.
