Can you introduce yourself and share your role at StageBio?
Hi, I'm Samantha Montigney, and I recently stepped into the role of Senior Manager, Operations.
What inspired you to join StageBio, and how long have you been with the team? Where were you before?
I joined StageBio in October 2019 as a laboratory technician. Before that, I worked in the veterinary medicine field and later at a cGMP-regulated facility, BioLife. Those experiences gave me a strong foundation in both animal health and quality-driven operations. When I came across StageBio, I was drawn to the mission and the opportunity to keep learning and growing in a new direction.
What initially sparked your interest in your field, and how did you choose your specific field of study?
My interest in this field began while I was at Rutgers University, obtaining my B.S. in Animal Science, Animal Industries. After graduation, I spent several years working in veterinary medicine, which gave me valuable hands-on experience. When I discovered StageBio, it felt like the right opportunity to build on that foundation and continue growing while contributing to advancements in science and medicine.
Can you share a breakthrough or discovery in your research/work that you found particularly exciting?
What excites me most is the collaboration; working side by side with clients on such a wide variety of projects. Every project feels like an opportunity to learn something new and see the bigger impact of the work we do.
What do you see as the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Like many industries, we're navigating a changing market landscape, which can be challenging. But I also see it as an opportunity for us to get creative, adapt, and continue pushing science forward in new ways.
What do you enjoy most about working at StageBio?
I love knowing that what we do at StageBio helps advance medical treatments and procedures that touch lives all over the world. It's motivating to feel like my work contributes, even in a small way, to something so meaningful.
Is there a mentor or colleague who has had a big impact on your career?
I've been really lucky to have supportive mentors and leaders here at StageBio. They've helped me strengthen my scientific expertise while also guiding me in developing my project management skills and the ability to lead and support a team effectively.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, friends, and pets. At home, my family and I enjoy doing crafts, building with Legos, and experimenting with fun science kits together—it's a playful way to stay curious and connected.
